Shiva Kumar Kapuraboina S/o. K.Ganesh (Casual Labourer) was born normal in 1992. He is the middle of three sons. When he was of 1 year, he suffered from polio. He was not immunized against polio. He had mild fever. The local doctor gave an injection, because of which his four limbs were paralyzed. The parents took him to another doctor. That doctor realized what happened and started treatment. After some days, the movement in upper limbs and some movement in lower limbs were recovered.

Rehabilitation:

When he came to the institution in January, 2000, he was moving on his lower limbs like a Duck. He was admitted in 1st class for the academic year 2000-2001. Immediately the needed surgical correction is taken care of. Soft Tissue Release (STR) is done on 22nd January, 2000 at Shalini Hospitals, Barkatpura, Hyderabad by Dr.A.Srinivasa Rao, Ortho. Surgeon. After the post operative care, Bilateral Above Knee Caliper and Crutches are given. He was gait trained in walking with correct posture.

Academics:

He continued his studies and passed 10th Class in the year 2009-10. He also passed the “Uttama” of the Hyderabad Hindi Prachara Sabha Examination. He also passed the “Prarambhik” (Music) Examination of the Gandharva Mahavidyalaya Mandal, Mumbai. He is a bright student. He participated in the “Udghosh (a three day community living & creative expressions in confidence development programme for challenging children) conducted by the South Zone Cultural Center & Rangaprabhath Children’s Theatre at Rangaprabhath, Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala.

Present:

Now he completed SSC and wants to become an Engineer in future.
